Gilead
The Details:
In partnership with Gilead, facilitated and moderated a community session titled "Advancing Health Equity Through the Lens of Women's Health: Spotlight on HIV Prevention and Awareness."
My Approach:
In my capacity as moderator, I aimed to bring attention to the health inequalities faced by Black women, fostering an open dialogue about HIV awareness and the resources available to support them. We highlighted essential safety practices for maintaining appropriate sexual health and emphasized the critical need to address bias within healthcare systems. Additionally, I encouraged attendees to engage politically, recognizing the policy's significant impact on women’s health and access to services.
I led the brainstorming sessions that shaped the conversation arc for our event, ensuring a cohesive conversation flow. By fostering an open dialogue and collaboration environment, I encouraged participants to share their insights and perspectives, which helped identify key topics and objectives. My approach involved synthesizing these ideas into a structured framework, creating a logical progression that enhanced audience engagement. I focused on integrating diverse viewpoints to enrich the discussion, ensuring that each segment contributed to the overarching goals of the event.
The Outcome:
The session empowered women by directing them to essential resources, enabling them to advocate for themselves and become proactive partners in their care management. Through this collaborative dialogue, we uplifted the voices and experiences of Black women within the framework of health equity. Attendees provided enthusiastic feedback, expressing a strong desire for more community conversations like this one. Our meticulous planning fostered a dynamic narrative that not only informed but inspired participants to take decisive action on critical issues affecting their lives and communities.
