LinkedIn & NYC Health Department
The Details:
Featured speaker at Sisters Thrive and Brothers Thrive’s Joy & Pain: Trauma in the Workplace. Hosted in partnership with the New York City Mayor’s Office, New York City Health Department’s Center for Health Equity, ThriveNYC and LinkedIn.
My Approach:
In this panel on trauma in the workplace, my approach focused on fostering healing and resilience within marginalized communities. Acknowledging the widespread traumatic experiences many individuals face in both care systems and work environments, I emphasized the need for creating spaces that support mental wellness and mitigate the effects of stress and trauma. Drawing from evidence-based practices and initiatives like ThriveNYC, I advocated for tools and resources that empower individuals to manage daily challenges and promote psychological safety. My goal was to shed light on how workplaces can transform from sources of stress to centers of support, ultimately benefiting both individual and collective well-being.
The Outcome:
Dialogue about workplace trauma is powerful, especially for marginalized communities, as it fosters connection, reduces isolation, and validates individual experiences. By raising awareness of mental wellness, we encouraged organizations in attendance to consider adopting supportive policies, paving the way for inclusive, healing-centered workplaces that boost morale and productivity.
